On Mar. 9, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department announced a public comment period for a draft regulation outlining a grizzly bear hunting season in the state. The proposal includes the creation of a lottery-based hunting license system, favoring residents. License draws would come from a list composed of interested resident and non-resident parties who would pay to be on the draw list. The number of licenses for the six management areas would depend on grizzly bear population estimates with specific focus on grizzly sows. Visit wgfd.wyo.gov/Get-Involved/Public-Meetings to read the 12-page draft regulation in full and to submit comments online. The comment period will extend through April 30 at 5 p.m. and includes a number of public meetings (listed in the Coming Events calendar). Comments can also be submitted by mail; address comments no more than 8,000 words long to Wyoming Game and Fish Department, Wildlife Division, ATTN: Regulations, 3030 Energy Lane, Casper, WY 82604. — WLJ
