Walmart has announced it is behind the plans to break ground on a new case-ready beef facility in Olathe, KS. The facility, expected to break ground later this year and open in 2025, will package and distribute Angus beef from the Sustainable Beef plant located in North Platte, NE.
The Sustainable Beef plant broke ground last fall and is expected to open its doors in late 2024. Last year, Walmart and Sustainable Beef signed an agreement for Walmart to acquire a minority stake in the beef processing plant.
“At Walmart, enhancing quality is integral to how we innovate,” Walmart said in a news release. “Once opened, our case-ready beef facility in Olathe, KS, will mark an important next step in our journey to create an end-to-end Angus beef supply chain, ensuring our customers have access to the high-quality meats they expect at the Every Day Low Prices they rely on.”
