The World Food Prize Foundation announced Tom Vilsack, former USDA secretary, will become its CEO on March 1.

“His leadership will strengthen our global impact in food security and sustainable agriculture,” said World Food Prize Foundation President Mashal Husain.

Vilsack, a two-term Agriculture secretary and former Iowa governor, has served on the foundation’s board of directors and council of advisors. According to the foundation, his decades-long commitment to agriculture and food security will help expand the organization’s global network and leadership in addressing food insecurity.

Husain will continue to drive innovative programming with the goal of transforming food systems worldwide.
