The U.S. Forest Service (USFS) is proposing to prepare a national environmental assessment to expedite post-fire recovery work on national forests and grasslands.
“This new approach aims to streamline work to reduce these post-fire hazards by planting trees, repairing infrastructure, safeguarding water quality and performing other critical stabilization work,” the agency said.
The action aligns with several of President Donald Trump’s executive orders, along with USDA’s interim rule deregulating the National Environmental Policy Act. To submit comments on the proposal, visit tinyurl.com/38sa9ay8 and comment by Jan. 26.
