Fourteen contiguous Idaho counties are eligible for USDA Farm Service Agency emergency loans after a secretarial natural disaster designation linked to severe drought.
According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, these areas faced D2-D4 drought conditions for extended periods. Producers can use loans to replace equipment or livestock, reorganize operations or refinance debt, with eligibility based on losses and repayment ability. Parts of Montana and Washington also qualify.
Applications are due May 8, 2026. Producers should contact their local USDA Service Center to report losses and explore assistance programs.
