USDA will be extending the comment period on its proposed reorganization plan.
While previously set for Aug. 31, the new deadline is now listed as Sept. 30 in the original press release announcing the public comment period. USDA’s proposed plan is to move 2,600 of the 4,600 department staff members to five hubs around the U.S. The hubs include Raleigh, NC; Kansas City, MO; Indianapolis, IN; Fort Collins, CO; and Salt Lake City, UT.
“We value your perspective as we work to ensure that USDA is best positioned to serve America’s farmers, ranchers, producers, and rural communities,” said USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins. Members of Congress have called on USDA to extend the original 30-day deadline, calling the proposal rushed.
Feedback on the proposal is being accepted through Sept. 30 by emailing reorganization@usda.gov.
