USDA published its 2024 Pesticide Data Program Annual Summary, showing that more than 99% of tested food samples contained pesticide residues below benchmarks set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

In 2024, USDA tested 9,872 samples across 19 commodities, including fresh and processed fruits and vegetables, nuts and fish. Foods are selected annually on a rotating basis through coordination between the USDA and the EPA. The program, administered by USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service, relies on partnerships with state agencies to collect and analyze samples.

Testing covers both domestic and imported foods, with emphasis on items commonly consumed by infants and children. The 2024 data and summary are available at tinyurl.com/498zrnv2.
