The United States Cattlemen’s Association (USCA) supports Rep. Harriet Hageman’s (R-WY-At large) resolution to block mandatory electronic identification (EID) for cattle and bison moving interstate.

The resolution would prohibit the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service from enforcing their rule mandating EID.

“While disease traceability is a priority amongst the industry, there is currently a robust system in place that allows for the flexibilities outlined in USDA’s Animal Disease Traceability Framework and have thus far maintained the health and safety of the American cattle herd,” USCA said in a news release.
