Two men were arrested for allegedly shooting cattle on Dec. 29, 2024, near 25 Mesa Road in western Colorado, resulting in over $6,000 in damages, reports the Montrose Daily Press.

Jevon Vigil, 19, and Leeland Hernandez, 20, face animal cruelty and criminal mischief charges after two bred cows were killed and another injured. Investigators linked the suspects through evidence, including ammunition and tire tracks. Sheriff Gene Lillard praised investigators and Montrose Regional Crime Stoppers for tips leading to the arrests.

Authorities clarified this case as unrelated to the disappearance of nearly 200 cattle off the Uncompahgre Plateau in Colorado in December.
