On April 6, the U.S. Treasury department added Kuban AgroHolding—a south Russian agricultural company involved with grain and hog farming—to a list of individuals and companies targeted for sanctions under the “Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions” Act (115th Congress, H.R. 3364). According to UK-based outlet GlobalMeatNews, Kuban AgroHolding was valued at $168 million in 2015. Under the sanctions act, U.S. companies and citizens may not engage in business with sanctioned individuals or companies.
