The 78th Annual Red Bluff Bull, Gelding, and Stock Dog Sale was challenged with trying to outdo records and landmarks set from the year before. The challenge was accepted and the 2019 edition was one of the most widely recognized, weeklong events in the Western U.S.
A picture-perfect weather pattern set the tone for the week as stock from around the West came, competed, and traded to new owners in a truly historic fashion. This piece highlights the individual champion for all the work that goes in to being named a champion at Red Bluff.
The Bull Sale started with the range bull show on Tuesday, Jan. 22, followed by the halter show and selection of the Supreme Champion on Wednesday, Jan. 23.
With over 400 bulls entered, being named a champion isn’t an easy feat. Bulls must perform the entire week, present themselves in front of a sifting committee before being evaluated for quality in front of a grading committee. Congrats to these exhibitors for their excellent cattle who were named champions in their breeds and classes.
The 57th Annual Gelding Sale is on a path to higher averages and has been for several years. The quality that is coming in is also getting stronger and stronger. Geldings in this sale are put through an absolute test for soundness, quality, training, and handling. Look for the Gelding Sale report in this section for more details. It was an absolutely successful event.

The Stock Dog Sale is a highlight year in and year out. With momentum swinging in the upward direction, this sale is gathering more than just stockmen who need a finished stock dog. Breeders are now coming in to build programs around this sale. The room is always completely packed for the sale and outstanding results came.
Look for the Stock Dog Sale report for all the final points and the historical situation that was a result from several very talented canines.
