Texas Tech University’s School of Veterinary Medicine has achieved full accreditation from the American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Education, joining 31 accredited veterinary schools nationwide.

“This achievement marks a defining moment for Texas Tech and for veterinary education in Texas,” said President Lawrence Schovanec.

Established in 2018 to serve rural and regional communities, the school welcomed its first class in 2021. This past May, the school graduated its inaugural class, with 97% passing the national licensing exam and 95% entering rural veterinary practices—affirming its mission to strengthen veterinary care across Texas.
