Superior Livestock Auction hosted their video auction live on Jan. 25 from the Superior Livestock Auction Studio in Hudson Oaks, TX. Cattle producers offered over 39,600 head of calves, yearlings and bred stock from 25 states for this auction. Cattle were sold on contract to deliver immediately through October 2024.
Regions 3/4/5/6 feeder steers were met with an uneven market. Feeder steers on grow rations were $3-5 lower than last auction; however, steers on wheat pasture or other grazing pastures were $5-10 higher, deferred deliveries received the biggest premiums.
Feeder heifers from the same regions were also very uneven and buyers were very selective on condition and delivery.
Regions 1/2 feeder steers and heifers were in short supply but met at $5-7 higher than the last auction. Regions 1/2 weaned calves were only lightly tested and remained fully steady.
Regions 3/4/5/6 weaned calves were in strong demand, grazing condition were fully steady with the last auction.
Beef-dairy crosses were well received both steers and heifers at $8-10 higher on heavier weights, while lighter weights under 500 pounds were fully steady
