Nov. 30, Hudson Oaks, TX
Superior Livestock Auction hosted their video auction live on Nov. 30 from the Superior Livestock Auction Studio in Hudson Oaks, TX. Cattle producers offered 32,248 head of calves, yearlings and bred stock from 24 states for this auction. Cattle were sold on contract to deliver immediately through August 2024.
Regions 3/4/5/6 feeder steers saw a very uneven market. With winter approaching across much of the Midwest, Brahman-influenced steers and heifers were met with some resistance resulting in $5-9 lower on steers and $8-10 lower on heifers. British-based breeds of steers and heifers were in strong demand at levels fully steady to $4 higher.
Regions 1/2 feeders were in short supply but noted on a steady trend with the last auction. Regions 1/2 calves were also in short supply, but demand was strong at fully steady prices. Regions 3/4/5/6 witnessed an uneven trend with calves in lighter weights and grazing condition in very strong demand.
Region 5 saw big advances in prices of lightweight calves, suitable for wheat pasture, at $15-20 higher. Regions 3/4 saw lightweight calves with dependable vaccine programs at $10-15 higher on steer calves; however, heifer calves remained far back of the steers. Bred stock demand remained fully steady.
