Superior Livestock Auction hosted their video auction live on Sept. 21 from the Superior Livestock Auction Studio in Hudson Oaks, TX. Cattle producers offered 33,405 head of calves, yearlings and bred stock from 25 states for this auction. Cattle were sold on contract to deliver immediately through April 2024.

Region 3/4/5/6 feeder steers under 800 pounds for immediate as well as deferred delivery were $8-12 higher than the last auction. Weights over 800 lbs. were also well received at levels $5-7 higher. Feeder heifers followed suit with advances equal to their contemporaries.

Region 1 and 2 feeder steers & heifers were lightly tested, but there was strong buyer participation.

Beef-dairy crosses were well received by a wide buying base, resulting in $10-15 higher with some high-performance genetic base cattle at $20 higher.

Region 3/4/5/6 weaned calves under 600 lbs. were $10-15 higher while advances on heavier weights were fully steady to $7 higher. Program buyers were very selective as to slots and timing. Advances over conventionally raised feeders were less than what we have seen in the past but still saw $8-10 premiums on select consignments.
