Superior Livestock Auction hosted their Labor Day video auction live Sept. 6-7 from the Superior Livestock Auction Studio in Hudson Oaks, TX. Cattle producers offered 58,778 head of calves, yearlings and bred stock from 30 states for this auction. Cattle were sold on contract to deliver immediately through April 2024.
Regions 3/4/5/6 feeder steers and heifers were received on a softer trend than the last auction. Regions 1/2 feeder steers and heifers were also well received at fully steady prices on deferred but saw some weakness on immediate deliveries.
Beef-dairy crosses were met by a wide buyer base on fully steady with the last auction. Regions 3/4/5/6 weaned calves and calves on cows saw a strong buyer interest in lightweight prices $8-50 higher due to anticipation of the approaching fall grazing. Heavier calves were also well received at $5-8 higher.
Regions 1/2 saw advances of $7-10 higher on lighter weights and $4-6 higher on heavier weights. The strong market of bred stock was also well received by a wide buyer base showing fully steady to $200 per head increases.
