June 10-11, South Sioux City, NE
Superior Livestock Auction hosted the Corn Belt Classic video auction live on June 10-11 from the Marriott South Sioux City Riverfront Hotel in South Sioux City, NE. Cattle producers sold 57,028 head of calves, yearlings and bred stock, totaling 494 lots from 22 states for this offering. Strong buyer participation from hundreds of bidders throughout the auction resulted in 147 different successful buyers. Cattle were sold on contract to deliver immediately through December 2024.
Regions 3/4/5/6 feeder steers opened the auction with an aggressive buyer base at fully steady prices with the last test. Feeder heifers from the same regions were also demanding steady money from buyers. Regions 1/2 feeders were in greater supply than the last test and were well received at $2-6 higher.
Beef-dairy crosses were fully steady at $8-10 higher on select genetics. Regions 3/4/5/6 weaned calves and calves-on-cows found some resistance from buyers as we begin to see warmer temperatures with prices steady to $8 lower. Colorado calves and the first test of fall deliveries found support at $25-30 higher than last year.
Featured consignments from Montana’s ranchers were $30-40 higher. Weaned calves from Region 4 also found strong support at highs of $20-30 higher than the last test. Fall-calving bred heifers from a reputable ranch in Texas were in very strong demand, topping at $3,200, followed by young cows from the same program bringing $3,210.
