April 27, Hudson Oaks, TX
Superior Livestock Auction hosted their April 27 video auction live from the Superior Livestock Auction Studio in Hudson Oaks, TX. Cattle producers offered over 44,400 head of calves, yearlings and bred stock from 23 states for this auction. Cattle were sold on contract to deliver immediately through January 2024. After a week of unsettled market trends across the board, Superior Livestock was able to push out a fully steady market report.
Regions 3/4/5/6 feeder steers witnessed a fully steady market on most classes; there was some resistance on short-term deliveries. Feeder heifers from the same regions were well received at $3-4 higher on lighter weights and fully steady on heavy weights over 750 pounds.
Regions 1 & 2 feeder steers and heifers were in light supply but were also trending fully steady. Program steers and heifers remained unchanged, seeing premiums of $15-25 higher than their counterparts.
Beef-dairy crosses were well received with steady demand on over 9,000 head. A large offering of calves on cows for early fall delivery saw a very strong demand from a wide buyer base with an advance of $70-plus higher than the same test last year. Weaned calves saw an increase of $8-12 higher than the last test. More than 12,000 head of calf offering were Florida calves, which were met with strong buyer demand and were well received.
