Superior Livestock Auction hosted their video auction live on May 2 from the Superior Livestock Auction Studio in Hudson Oaks, TX. Cattle producers sold 33,850 head of calves, yearlings and bred stock, totaling 250 lots from 23 states for this offering. Strong buyer participation from several bidders throughout the auction resulted in 88 different successful buyers. Cattle were sold on contract to deliver immediately through December 2024.
Region 3/4/5/6 feeder steers were fully steady with the last test on weights under 900 pounds, however, some heavier steers saw advances of $3-7. Feeder heifers from the same regions were also well received at fully steady on all weights.
Regions 1/2 feeder steers and heifers were in short supply but were also trending steady. Weaned calves from Regions 1/2 were only lightly tested but saw increases of $5-8 from the last offering. Beef-dairy crosses were met with an active market but failed to remain steady.
Region 5 calves on cows were fully steady with the last auction. Regions 3/4/6 weaned calves witnessed strong buyer demand with grazing condition calves $5-8 higher and heavier calves over 650 lbs. at fully steady.
