After Kansas was hit by devastating wildfires in mid-December, cattle producers were severely impacted. Some processors, such as Tyson Foods and Cargill, have donated $100,000 each in relief funds.
“Our partnership with family and independent cattle producers is important to us, and we want to do our part to help those whose lives have been affected by the devastating wildfires,” said Shane Miller, group president of Fresh Meats for Tyson Foods.
The donations were made through the Kansas Livestock Association (KLA)/Kansas Livestock Foundation. T
hose interested in donating to the fund can do so here. Donations are tax deductible, and 100 percent of proceeds will be distributed to impacted producers, who do not need to be members to receive funds. Producers interested in receiving assistance can contact the KLA.
