The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) issued an extension for a lethal permit for the Lookout Mountain Pack after the department confirmed another depredation on Aug. 19.
ODFW confirmed a 3-month-old calf had been heavily scavenged, and tooth marks were found on the rear right leg above the hock and upper neck. ODFW previously issued a lethal control permit on July 29 after the Lookout Mountain Pack killed or injured five cows in five separate incidents over a 14-day period in late July.
The initial permit was set to expire on Aug. 21. The new permit will allow the three producers who have experienced depredations on their family-run cattle operations on public and private land to kill up to two uncollared wolves.
