Story Short: Small processor overtime pay reduced

USDA’s Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) announced $100 million would be allocated to small and very small meat processors to reduce the cost of overtime and holiday inspection fees.

FSIS will reduce the fees for small establishments (more than 10 but fewer than 500 employees) by 30 percent and very small establishments (fewer than 10 employees or annual sales less than $2.5 million) by 75 percent.

Applications for overtime/holiday rate reduction are due by Aug. 16 to expedite the process, however, forms are accepted by March 11, 2022.

Forms can be found at regulations.gov by searching for Docket ID FSIS-2021-0014-0001.
