Oregon Wildlife Coalition and conservation partners are offering to pay an $11,500 reward for information into the killing of the wolf known as OR88.
OR88 was a black female wolf that was part of the Lookout Mountain Pack. Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish and Wildlife Division officers were notified by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) that a collared wolf may be deceased at a location near Little Lookout Mountain, approximately nine miles northeast of Durkee, OR.
Officers located the wolf and discovered injuries consistent with being shot by a firearm.
Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact OSP through the Turn in Poachers hotline at 1-800-452-7888 or dial *OSP on their cell phone.
ODFW also announced that on Oct. 21, an uncollared male wolf was removed from the Horseshoe Pack in Umatilla County, where previous depredations occurred, to reduce further depredations. ODFW had first authorized lethal action on Sept. 8 after two depredations on cattle within three weeks.
On Oct. 6, the permit was extended until Oct. 28 after the producer lost another calf to the wolves. Since then, two additional depredations have been confirmed despite the landowner’s continued use of non-lethal measures.
