Story Short: CA quarterly wolf update

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) released a quarterly update on the activity of known wolf packs in the state.

CDFW reported the Lassen Pack had a minimum of five wolves with one collared female (LAS09F) and was responsible for one depredation in November.

The Whaleback Pack in Siskiyou County has two adults, one with a functioning collar (OR85), and six or seven pups. One depredation in November was attributed to the pack. There was no new information on the Beckwourth Pack in Plumas County.

The wolf OR103 remains in Siskiyou County and has remained on the west side of Interstate 5. He had four confirmed depredations and one probable depredation involving nine injured cattle (eight calves and one adult). Two calves were ultimately euthanized due to the extent of their injuries.
