Sen. Angus King Jr. (I-ME) recently introduced S. 1839, the Senate version of the “Cultivating Revitalization by Expanding American Agricultural Trade and Exports Act” or the “CREAATE Act” introduced in the House earlier this year. The act seeks to amend the Agricultural Trade Act of 1978. The amendment would seek to improve market access for American agricultural products in foreign markets. The Senate bill was cosponsored by Joni Ernst (R-IA), Joe Donnelly (D-IN), and Susan Collins (R-ME). The House version—H.R. 2321—was introduced in May by Dan Newhouse (R-WA-4) and was cosponsored by a bipartisan collection of 11 other representatives.
