Gray wolf.

U.S. National Park Service

On May 15, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) received a mortality alert for female gray wolf 2512-BC, one of the wolves translocated from British Columbia to Colorado.

The agency has confirmed her death occurred in northwest Colorado. As gray wolves are federally protected under the Endangered Species Act, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is leading the investigation. A final determination on the cause of death will be made following a full investigation, including a necropsy.

At this time, CPW said no further details have been released.
