According to the Red Angus Association of America (RAAA), its partnership with International Genetic Solutions (IGS) has led to the introduction of the $GAIN index.
This index helps predict profitability in feedlots by evaluating an animal’s efficiency in converting feed into weight. It combines the Dry Matter Intake and Average Daily Gain EPDs with higher $GAIN values, indicating more profit per head post-weaning. Released in September, the $GAIN Index is available to members via monthly downloadable reports featuring top sires.
