The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently approved Pradalex (pradofloxacin injection) for combating respiratory diseases among cattle and swine.

Pradalex has received approval for specific age groups and categories of cattle to combat bovine respiratory disease. This medication is strictly designated for use in cattle destined for slaughter or breeding, provided they are under 1 year old. It is not authorized for breeding cattle aged 1 year or older, beef calves under two months old, dairy calves or veal calves.

Pradofloxacin is a vital antimicrobial within the fluoroquinolone category and needs to be administered by licensed veterinarians via a single injection. As a third-generation fluoroquinolone, it holds critical importance in antimicrobial therapy, with its labeling emphasizing the exploration of alternative treatments before use.
