A recent study published in Food Frontiers explored the health effects of plant-based meat alternatives.

The research found no significant health risks or benefits compared to not consuming these processed foods. However, vegetarians who ate plant-based meat alternatives had a 42% higher risk of depression and more significant inflammation than those relying on traditional vegetarian protein sources. Despite slightly elevated blood pressure and inflammation markers, plant-based alternatives did not significantly increase heart risks. The study also found a 40% lower risk of irritable bowel syndrome for those consuming these foods.
