Pork processors settle in $64M lawsuit 

Researchers have studied differences in how barrows and gilts are managed to determine opportunities available for producers to feed or manage the two populations for greater profits.

Tyson Foods, Clemens Foods and Triumph Foods have agreed to settle for $64 million in a price-fixing lawsuit that alleged the companies worked together to manipulate pork prices.

Tyson agreed to pay $50 million, while Clemens settled at $10 million and Triumph at $4 million. Total settlements for the case now total more than $180 million, with other companies—including JBS USA, Smithfield Foods and others—settling earlier in the case.
