After Tyson Foods announced plans to close its Emporia, KS, processing plant, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) proposed leasing the facility.
In a letter to Tyson CEO Donnie King, PETA suggested transforming the space into an “empathy museum.”
The letter said, “Our empathy museum would include informational displays highlighting fascinating and often conveniently ignored facts about these animals and would remind visitors that pigs and cows should not be seen as bacon, chops or burgers but as living, feeling beings just like themselves.”
The letter also said the facility would be turned into a vegan café, showcasing “compassionate living” and offering plant-based cuisine.
