People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has announced it will place a billboard on Interstate 90, east of Mitchell, SD in “honor of the cows who suffered and died in a truck crash.” According to the South Dakota Department of Public safety, on Oct.14 a semi hauling 99 cows lost control on I-90, entered the median and rolled, throwing cattle from the trailer. No serious injuries to people were reported. The billboard (http://tinyurl.com/y9ahvfm7) will show a cow’s face next to the words, “I’m ME, Not MEAT. See the Individual. Go Vegan.” PETA’s billboard urges motorists to prevent such needless deaths by keeping cows and all other animals off their plates, according to PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reimanm who also said, “Many gentle cows died or were injured after a semi rolled over into the median, and those who survived the terrifying crash were likely granted no reprieve from the slaughterhouse blade.”
