Petaluma Poultry, a division of Perdue Foods, is taking legal action against animal rights group Direct Action Everywhere (DxE).

In a complaint filed with the California Superior Court in Sonoma County, the company said DxE “deployed alarming, and illegal, tactics against an associate and his family at their private residence.” Perdue Foods said the associate was witness to DxE member Zoe Rosenberg illegally entering a Petaluma Poultry facility in 2024 and has been the subject of harassment ahead of Rosenberg’s trial in May.

“While we welcome open and honest discussion about the welfare of animals, we strongly oppose the extreme tactics used by DxE,” said Julie Katigan, chief human resources officer for Perdue. “These are not the actions of an organization seeking constructive dialogue.”
