According to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife’s (ODFW) 2024 Wolf Conservation and Management Annual Report, Oregon’s known wolf population rose to 204 wolves in 2024, up from 178 in 2023.
This growth marks continued westward expansion, with seven breeding pairs now documented in the West Zone. In total, 25 packs and 17 breeding pairs were identified. However, ODFW noted that these figures represent a minimum count based on verified evidence. The agency also said that despite progress, wolf poaching remains a significant concern, with seven deaths under investigation.
Livestock depredation events dropped slightly to 69 events, and the Oregon Department of Agriculture awarded nearly $790,000 in grants, primarily for preventative measures.
