About Jackie Davis
On Dec. 16, Jackie Davis passed away peacefully in his sleep with his wife, Chris, and his dog, Jessie, by his side. He was 88 years old. He spent his last days surrounded by his family and close friends at home, with a fire in the fireplace, watching his cattle and football, just as he wanted.
Jackie was born in 1936 in McFarland, CA, to George and Velma Davis. He was raised in the San Joaquin Valley, where his family farmed, graduating from Delano High School.
In his career, he would manage the cattle division of Triangle T Ranches, consisting of 200 registered Herefords and 2,500 commercial cattle on 15,000 acres in Chowchilla, CA. Additionally managing Antoinio Mt. Ranch in Lincoln and Napa Valley Polled Herefords in Napa.
Later he would form a cattle consulting business. This would ultimately take him to 45 states in the union and two Canadian providences, serving as a cattle consultant, as well as a judge for local, state and national cattle shows.
After serving as a national director and chairman of the board of the American Polled Hereford Association, he would be honored for his devotion to the industry as an inductee into the American Hereford Association Hall of Fame in 2013.
He served as a board of director and president for the California-Nevada Polled Hereford Association, and on the board of Tahoe Cattlemen’s Association and Lincoln Farm Foundation.
A Champion of youth in the industry, he always had time to share his knowledge and easy smile. He treasured his family and many lifelong friendships and will be remembered fondly for his dry wit, easy disposition and no-nonsense approach to life.
Jackie was preceded in death by his parents, George and Velma; sister, Marie; previous wives, Sandy and June; granddaughter Niki; and stepson, Blake.
