Commercial cattlemen will have two new events to attend or participate in at the 2018 National Western Stock Show (NWSS) in Denver, CO. The first event will feature exhibitors showing bulls in pens of five-10 head presented and priced like ranchers would find them at a typical ranch sale. These bulls will be available for private treaty sale. The second event is a competition, sponsored in partnership with OriGEN Genetics where exhibitors can enter single bulls of any beef breed. The winning bull owner will be offered a one-year contract with OriGen Genetics where they will collect semen and offer a one-page spread in their annual Bull Semen catalog all at OriGen’s expense. Additionally, the winning bull will earn a $1,000 cash prize. A panel of six judges comprised of established and reputable commercial cattlemen from cow country will evaluate this set of bulls. All bulls in both events will be exhibited loose in pens with no additional washing or grooming once they arrive at the NWSS. Bulls will be on exhibit, Jan.16 and 17, 2018, in conjunction with the NWSS Commercial Female Show and Sale on Jan. 17. For more information please contact the NWSS livestock office at 303-299-5559. Entry deadline is Dec. 1, 2017.
