The Bureau of Land Management (BLM)plans to remove more than 1,300 feral horses and 350 burros from the Blue Wing Complex located near Lovelock, NV.

The complex has four herd management areas and five herd areas that encompass more than 2,283,300 acres of public and private lands. The areas have an appropriate management level (AML) of 333-555 wild horses and 55-90 burros. Approximately 1,900 feral horses and 476 burros reside within the complex, nearly three times the AML.

BLM plans to remove the animals by using the helicopter-assisted method. Removed animals will be prepared for the agency’s Adoption and Sales Program.
