The California Cattlemen’s Association (CCA) declared victory recently in defeating a proposal that might have increased fees on livestock ponds. The State Water Resources Control Board had proposed changes that would have increased registration fees for livestock ponds by 400 percent. “CCA was particularly concerned with the impacts that a fee increase would have upon diverters with numerous stock ponds registered on their ranch or ranches, and the cumulative annual fees could prove overwhelming,” the group wrote. The board reportedly rejected the proposed fee increase following arguments by CCA.
