MT restaurant serves beef from the MSF Cattle Drive Program

The Montana Stockgrowers Foundation (MSF) and the Montana Stockgrowers Association (MSGA) recently attended a dinner at the High Horse Saloon in Billings, MT, which featured a beef-focused menu highlighting beef from MSGA members, Little Belt Cattle Co., and purchased through the Montana Stockgrowers Foundation Cattle Drive Program as part of the Montanans Feeding Montana Initiative.

Earlier in 2024, MSF launched the “Montanans Feeding Montana Initiative” to connect the Montana food service industry to the high-quality beef raised by Montana ranchers through the Cattle Drive program which allows ranchers and other Montanans to donate a calf directly or donate the market value of a steer calf.

During dinner, MSGA board member Monty Lesh shared with attendees more about the Cattle Drive Program and how the initiative began. Greg Putnam, of Little Belt Cattle Co., shared about their operation and the beef being enjoyed that night. Throughout the five-course meal, the High Horse Saloon owner, Reid Pyburn, and executive chef, Andy Glynn, discussed the ways they incorporate beef into their customer’s dining experience. They said their customers want to know where their beef comes from and that they are happy to help tell that story.
