Missouri Prime Beef Packers issued a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification announcing that the company would close its plant in Pleasant Hope, MO, effective April 26.

The 88,000-square-foot plant processes approximately 750 cattle daily. The notice states 335 full-time workers will be affected, with some continuing their work until the closing date while others will be placed on “garden leave” until the closure date. The letter says the closure may be temporary or permanent.

In January, the company withdrew its application to use an innovative technology to discharge wastewater into the Pomme de Terre watershed.

In May 2023, STX Beef Co. acquired Missouri Prime Beef Packers.
