Colorado Cattlemen’s Association (CCA), its affiliates and members, plus the broader beef community, are excitedly planning for the 2023 #MeatIn Weekend March 18-19. Each year, “Meat In Day” in Colorado celebrates the contributions of livestock production and agriculture, while also uplifting those in need and supporting local causes.

What are your #MeatIn Day Plans? CCA wants to know! If you or your affiliate have special plans for the weekend, please share your event details with CCA. Community members can call the office to learn about Meat In Day activities and events, and CCA is more than willing to share your local events with those interested.

CCA will be supporting Beef Sticks for Backpacks again this year to support feeding hungry kids across the state.

How will you #MeatIn?

• Attend a #MeatIn Day event!

Similar to the past few years, there are local events popping up across the state and restaurants and businesses running beef/meat specials. Share your information and photos with CCA, and let them know how your events went.

• Share your stories on social media!

Last year, social media and news outlets were flooded with support for beef production and Colorado’s agriculture industries. This year is another opportunity for you to create a unique social media post, letter to the editor or radio slot.

• Show your beef industry pride!

The Colorado Beef Council has materials available to celebrate BEEF month in Colorado. Visit www.cobeef.com to place your orders. Keep in mind, quantities are limited, so order soon. Better With Beef banners are also available for purchase and can be shipped directly to you. Visit betterwithbeef.org for more information on ordering banners, or contact the CCA office at 303-431-6422 or info@coloradocattle.org to place your order.

• #MeatIn Day messages

Remember, write your post to show your audience why this issue should matter to them. Use a local spin and connect to your communities. Has there been an issue brought up in your community related to the beef industry? Now is the time to pivot to positive messages! Your personal connection and stories as a producer and/or consumer of beef is important to share.

Some messaging to remember

• It is important to recognize the contributions from agriculture and the beef industry span beyond a single day. Rather, we recognize how important beef production is on an ongoing basis to our communities, environment and economy.

• Colorado agriculture and beef production are a dynamic, strong and principal part of Colorado’s past, present and future. Colorado beef fuels our economy and our bodies. Additionally, not only have beef producers increased sustainability 5% in the last six years but also contribute invaluable benefits such as wildlife habitat, open space and recreational opportunities on over half of Colorado’s lands.

• The goal of this day is to not only celebrate our industries but pay it forward and continue our fight to end food insecurity in Colorado and support efforts to promote and protect agriculture and food production in our state.

• If you are looking for some facts, figures or information about the beef industry to add to your posts or beef up your messaging, a great resource for facts about the beef industry is betterwithbeef.org and www.cobeef.com. CCA
