On Monday, Aug. 20, Turkey issued complaints against the U.S. steel and aluminum tariffs to the World Trade Organization’s (WTO’s) Dispute Settlement Body.
“These measures impose, inter alia, additional ad valorem rates of duty on imports of the certain steel and aluminium [sic] products, and exempt certain selected WTO members from the measures,” wrote the Turkish delegation in their request for dispute consultation.
“These measures adversely affect exports of such products from Turkey to the United States.” In mid-July, the U.S. issued five complaints—one of them against Turkey—for retaliatory tariffs made by countries in response to the metal tariffs.
