Martha Williams was sworn in as director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) by Interior Secretary Deb Haaland on March 8. Williams was previously serving as principal deputy director since Jan. 20.
“I look forward to continuing my life’s work of collaborating with local communities and stakeholders to tackle conservation efforts and the tough wildlife and resource management issues facing the country,” Williams said.
Williams previously served as the director of the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks; was an assistant professor of law at the Blewett School of Law at the University of Montana in Missoula, MT; and served as deputy solicitor for Parks and Wildlife.
