Prior to leaving office, USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue and U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) Robert Lighthizer announced on Jan. 14 the appointment of 67 members to serve on seven agricultural trade advisory committees.
The Agricultural Policy Advisory Committee consists of senior representatives from across the U.S. agricultural community who provide advice to the USDA and USTR on trade policy matters, including the operation of existing trade agreements and the negotiation of new agreements. Members of the six Agricultural Technical Advisory Committees (ATACs) provide technical advice and guidance from the perspective of their specific product sectors.
New and reappointed members of note are: Julie Anna Potts of North American Meat Institute (NAMI) and William “Collin” Woodall of National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) to the Agricultural Policy Advisory Committee; and Kent Bacus of NCBA, John Newton of American Farm Bureau Federation, and Michael Schumpp of NAMI for the ATAC for Trade in Animals and Animal Products.
This group of appointed advisors will serve until 2025.
