Legal Ledger Brief: USDA posts ADT standards

USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has released a general programs standards document for the agency’s animal disease traceability (ADT) regulations.

The standards provide technical information about different program elements outlined in the existing regulations, as well as testing and approval requirements for companies to bring new official ID tags to the market.

APHIS said this could be helpful to producers, industry members and companies who are involved with the traceability program.

The document does not include any changes to the animal disease traceability regulations or changes to the policies related to RFID (radio-frequency identification) tags for official ID devices.

More information about ADT is available at aphis.usda.gov/animalhealth/traceability.
