Legal Ledger Brief: USDA CRP deadline set

USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) set a July 23 deadline for producers and landowners to sign up for the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). FSA will also be accepting CRP Grasslands applications from July 12 through Aug. 20.

The agency is adding on a one-time “inflationary” adjustment for payment rates as well as more flexibility on adjusting soil rental rates through CRP. Grasslands signup was updated to establish a minimum rental rate of $15 per acre, as well as new National Grassland Priority Zones.

To sign up, contact your local USDA Service Center at www.farmers.gov/service-center-locator.
