The United Kingdom (UK) has been mulling the idea of joining the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) following its departure from the European Union, known as Brexit.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson met Sept. 21 with President Joe Biden to discuss a potential trade deal between the two countries. The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative has not yet received a request to join the agreement, although the UK has submitted an application to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership.
The U.S. has signified that a trade deal with the UK is not its top priority right now, and it will instead focus on domestic issues such as infrastructure and climate change.
