Katherine Tai, President Joe Biden’s pick for the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), was easily advanced by the Senate Finance Committee to receive a vote by the full Senate for confirmation. Tai’s nomination has received strong bipartisan support.
“Not many hearings in the Senate feature as much bipartisan praise for nominees,” Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden said in a statement.
Tai is expected to make trade with China a priority, as she spent several years as the head of China enforcement in the Office of the USTR and is fluent in Mandarin
