Despite a freeze on payments under the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP), American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) economist Michael Nepveux stated producers should still sign up for the program.
“There’s been some conversation around potentially the program being cancelled. That is not the case, it’s just a temporary freeze,” Nepveux said on an AFBF podcast. “This is pretty common when you get a new administration coming in and once, they get all their people in place, we highly expect the program to be moving forward.”
The deadline for applying or modifying an existing application if they have participated in the program already is Feb. 26.
