Legal Ledger Brief: Sheep Center accepting grant proposals

The National Sheep Industry Improvement Center is accepting grant proposals that will improve the U.S. sheep industry.

The board of directors will be taking proposals until Sept. 15. Grants must accomplish sheep industry improvement as well as an objective such as: strengthening the lamb and wool industry’s infrastructure by increasing production numbers; providing sheep producers and packers leadership training and education; promoting lamb marketing through a method that measures tangible results; or coordinating information exchange and marketing within the international sheep community.

Each proposal will be reviewed by the Sheep Center and final recommendations will be sent to the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service.

More information on submitting a proposal may be received by contacting Steve Lee at 207-236-6567 or stevelee@nsiic.org, or by mail to National Sheep Improvement Center, P.O. Box 646, Rockland ME 04841.
